Thanksgiving Memories and Head Trauma
I never felt the need to be a father, but I love being an Uncle. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for my nieces and nephews. I have 2 nieces, 3 nephews and 1 great nephew.
This Thanksgiving, I was with Rachel, 4, Gianna, 5 and Kyle, who is 9.
As you can see by my picture, I have a bit of a receding hairline. (Receding to my belt, that is). So the kids informed me that they had a treatment to regrow my hair. As I said, I’ll do anything for these kids. They led me up to Gianna’s playroom, and had me sit in one of her chairs… yep, one of her tiny chairs. They wrapped a Disney Princess blanket around me, like I was getting a haircut ( I wish), and left me sitting there, while Rachel prepared the solution.
After about 5 minutes, she came over to me with a bowl (empty), of make-believe tea, that she poured over my head. I shivered and told her that it was cold, so she went back and mixed up a new batch of make-believe warm tea. That felt much better.
I then asked how long before I would have hair. They told me a week to 10 days. At that point, they pulled the Princess blanket up over my head. Two seconds later, Kyle smacked me in the back of the head with the pot that they had been using as a mirror… CLANG!
I pulled the blanket off and said, “What the heck was that?”
Kyle replied, “Oh, that’s part of the treatment.”
I’m still optimistically waiting for the regrowth.
